Introducing Flora, a Nathalie Lété et Meri Meri collection

Posted

Since when does a tableware collection get its own blog post write-up? Since we first saw the new Flora collection designed by Nathalie Lété.  We have been waiting soooo long to share this amazing collection with our party enthusiasts.  It's been hard to keep it under wraps but with a global pandemic to deal with it didn't seem like the right time to wax lyric about party supplies.  But, with an amazing week of very low (to no) cases in Hong Kong, it feels like we can take a moment to look forward to brighter days.

So let's take a quick look at the the players:

The artist: Natalie Lété, born in 1964, lives and works in Paris. "She is know for mixing different techniques and mediums, illustration, ceramics, textile and painting. She is inspired by her travels, but also by the mixing of vintage toys and old engravings of flowers and animals. Her work is colorful, naive and poetic, sometimes strange, to the point of tending towards art brut. Her world is nurtured by popular and folk art from her both origins (her Chinese father and her German mother)." (Source: www.nathalie-lete.com/history)   She has a deep portfolio of successful collaborations with brands such as Gucci, Anthropologie, Monoprix, H&M, plus a host of others.

The Collaborateur: Meri Meri, a fabulous global boutique partyware brand known for its imaginative, color-tastic, quality partyware, sweeties for play, and pretties for the home.  Even before we opened Swoon, we would regularly hoard Meri Meri partyware to have on hand for that 'just in case' party that pops up!

The partyware collection:

Results of this collaborative effort showcase a whimsical collection of imaginative tableware bursting with beautiful illustrations of vintage inspired flowers, fungi, birds, and butterflies.  Parts of the boutique collection feature Lété's signature-style sophisticated felines all dressed up for a Sunday stroll.  Plates and napkins feature amazing botanicals and garden creatures.    The octagonal shaped plates encourage a multi-course dining experience with two sizes plus a dessert plate to finish with a sweet.  Everything that can be is gorgeously finished with gold foil detail which we have come to expect from Meri Meri.

This collection would be amazing for Mother's Day, a spring or summer bridal shower, a girly garden party, a sweet tea party, or stylish birthday soiree.  The versatility and lux finishes of the collection makes for a very attractive option for so many occasions.

What we love: apart from the obvious obsession we have with this unique collection, we also love that Lété has also partnered with Paperless Post to create a complementary set of invitations to match.  Oh happy day!

Where to buy: if you are based in Hong Kong, Swoon is delighted to be the exclusive stockist of the new Flora collection.  If you love this collection as much as we do, may we suggest you procure your favorite pieces now as stock is limited.
